Village Church is excited to be launching a new ministry initiative called The Harvest Project. A space for people who are thinking about what vocational ministry might mean for them, and want to discern if paid ministry is something they should pursue. We’re inviting you to join us as we launch this ministry because you have either been part of Mission Minded, or you have expressed an interest in exploring vocational ministry.

// What it is

What The Harvest Project is, is just that. An opportunity with other like-minded people to explore the possibilities and opportunities of ministry. While being guided by the ministry team at Village by asking important questions about ministry, character and convictions. The Harvest Project has a focus on helping each participant reflect and explore personal understandings of ministry in the parish and missional context.

// What it is not

What The Harvest Project is not, is a commitment to join MTS or go to a theological college. It also isn’t a guarantee of a Traineeship or Student Ministry at the end of the commitment. The Harvest Project is not a training ground for ministry skills or theological lectures, although we expect you will develop ministry skills and grow in your personal faith and theological understanding by participating.

// What’s the structure

The structure of The Harvest Project has three main aspects,

Termly Harvest Nights
The Mission Minded Conference
Semesterly 1:1 meetings

Attend termly Harvest Events
Attend annual Mission Minded Conference
Read 3 books from the recommended book list, 1 from each section, per year.
Meet once a semester with Jon/Toby about ministry thinking
Praying for each member of the group
Be regularly engaged with personal bible reading
// Expectations of a participant
These are not a condition, but are highly recommended.

Be involved with 1:1 reading with someone of younger faith than you (fortnightly)
Be involved with 1:1 reading with someone of older faith than you (fortnightly)
Be serving in at least one word ministry at Village Church

Be praying for you regularly
Organise termly Harvest events
Organise annual Mission Minded Conference
Meet with you each semester 1:1 to chat through ministry thinking
Work with other ministry leaders to organise ministry opportunities for you
